Experiences
- always check if there’s a student/discount price!
- museums are perfect places to spend time before hotel/hostel check-ins — often there are lockers to store belongings (in this case, luggage!)
- utilize google maps to pinpoint destinations
- I love using my pinpoints to guide where I go each day –> ideal for spontaneous yet thoughtful adventures
- Pack light! (but enough to have at least 3 outfits)
- plus leave room for souvenirs!
- Keep an eye out for free postcards and pamphlets
- once you start looking you’ll see them everywhere!
- Have some cash on hand –> just in case a museum or establishment only takes cash
Hostels
- bring your own padlock for the lockers, some quality earplugs, shower shoes, and anything else to increase comfort levels
- be prepared for many snoring roommates who mostly don’t speak English
- [for non-men] consider booking a bed in an all-female suite
- do your research for lodging to find the best deals on price and quality!
Travel
- always spend the extra bit for an assigned train seat
- if taking a sleeper train: pay for a bed!
- bring a portable charger, train outlets are only reliable 50% of the time
- bring more snacks than you think you’ll need
- you can always eat them later 🙂
